This week is Samoan Language Week.  It is also Samoan Independence Day and here at school, we will be celebrating it with a special assembly on Friday morning which is being run by our Samoan bilingual unit, Tautua mo Tupulaga.

Room 13 students have put together a La fai mako siva to perform in front of the school.  Check out our photos below of them practicing hard in class and don't forget to return to check out more photos and hopefully a video of their performance.

Check out the music they selected here.

Bacteria

R13 grew bacteria from a variety of surfaces around the school. See how we did it and check out our results.

Warning: Do not look if you have just eaten!!

How to swab and grow bacteria:

Materials
Swab
Petri dish
Agar Gel
Sanitiser
Tape

1.  Swab an item using a swab. A swab looks like a cotton bud but longer.

2.  Wipe the swab onto the agar gel that is in the petri dish.

3.  Place the lid on the petri dish and label it using paper tape.

4.  Watch the bacteria grow.
